The United States resolved allegations that Riverside County, California engaged in disability based hiring discrimination in violation of the ADA by entering into a Consent Decree. Under the Decree filed on October 8, 2015, the County agreed to hire, and pay $50,000 to a qualified applicant for a youth corrections probation officer position who it refused to hire because of his controlled epilepsy.  In the Decree, which still must be approved by the Court, the County, which cooperated with the United States, also agreed to revise its policies and provide ADA training to all employees involved in hiring.
