The Department of Justice announced today that it has entered into a settlement agreementunder the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 to prevent disability discrimination and ensure equal access to the programs, services, and facilities to the inmates with disabilities at the Erie County Jail. The agreement also requires the Jail to provide cells with mobility features for inmates with mobility disabilities and auxiliary aids and services for inmates who are deaf or have hearing loss, are blind or have low vision.
