What Is The CASI Member Listserv

As a benefit for members, CASI hosts an e-mail discussion list (also known as a LISTSERV) for its members. The CASI Listserv is for the exclusive use of CASI members. Members are encouraged to take advantage of the listserv to ask and discuss topics of immediate interest. The CASI Listserv is a great way to communicate quickly and easily with fellow CASI Professional and Associate  members, to ask questions about accessibility codes, standards, and regulations; disseminate relevant non-promotional information and resources; or to seek advice about how other CASI members are running their CASp business. By sending an email message to the CASI Listserv address, your message will be sent to all CASI members that subscribe to the list.

The Listserv is the property of the Certified Access Specialist Institute (CASI). To participate in the CASI Listserv, you must abide by the Listserv Rules.

The email address you used when you joined CASI is the only email address you can use to post to the listserv. If a post is rejected because "you are not a member", check that you are using the correct email address or email info@casinstitute.org to confirm.

CASI Member Listserv Rules and Purpose

To maintain the integrity and professional standards of the Listserv, and to provide the maximum benefit to our members, the "CASI Listserv Rules and Purpose” have been established by the Board of Directors. By subscribing to the CASI Listserv, you agree to abide by the requirements, prohibitions, and policies set forth herein. The rules are posted in the member dashboard of the CASI website and are also available upon request from the CASI office. Member posts are reviewed to ensure it adheres to CASI Listserv Guidelines and does not necessarily reflect the opinion or endorsement of CASI.

Rules and Purpose

Association use of Listserv: Association use of the Listserv is for the purpose of sharing information that may be of interest to CASI members or to engage in dialogue but is not necessarily fitting for standard communication channels.

The CASI Listserv is not a chat room or blog and is not intended for the purpose of expressing personal opinions or addressing a dispute with the Association, individuals, or businesses.

Communications that do not conform to the Rules and Purpose of the Listserv are prohibited and may result in disciplinary action up to and including a member’s removal from the Listserv.

Listserv Etiquette

  • Include your signature (name, affiliation, location, and e-mail address).
  • State concisely and clearly the specific topic of the comments in the subject line. This allows members to respond more appropriately to your posting and makes it easier for members to search their email archives by subject.
  • Include only the relevant portions of the original email in your reply, delete any header information, and put your response before the original posting.
  • Only send an email to the entire list when it contains information that everyone can benefit from.
  • Do not “Reply All” to the email. Send emails such as "thanks for the information" or "me, too" to individuals - not to the entire list. Do this by using your e-mail application's forwarding option and typing in or cutting and pasting in the e-mail address of the individual to whom you want to respond.
  • Do not send administrative emails, such as remove me from the list, through the Listserv. Please contact the list manager regarding these types of requests.
  • Warn other list subscribers of lengthy emails either in the subject line or at the beginning of the email’s body with a line that says "Long Message"
  • Do not start a new discussion in someone else’s email posting. Create a new discussion by emailing members@casinstitute.org.

Listserv Rules and Purpose Amendments

The CASI Board of Directors may make changes to these rules when it deems necessary.  Upon an approved change, the amendment will be sent out to members via the Listserv, and the amended document will be posted to the member dashboard of the CASI Website.
