CASI CONTINUING EDUCATION SERIES: Spring Seminar 2015
Earn 3 Hours of Continuing Education Credits for Architects, Building Officials and CASp Certification Renewals.
Seminar: Access to Multi-Family Housing
An overview of the access requirements for apartments, condos, townhomes and other multi-family dwelling units. The seminar will provide hands on exercises to illustrate the difference in requirements that seemingly small changes can make. After the session, attendees will be able to:
1) Understand what a covered dwelling is
2) Understand how project funding affects design
3) Be able to differentiate between public, common use, and private uses and spaces, and know the different requirements that apply to each one.
4) Understand the differences between existing buildings and new construction.
Speaker: Michelle Davis
Michelle Davis has spent over two decades designing, building, and renovating homes of every type. Between working in the multi-family studio of a large residential design firm, and as an in-house architect for a major national homebuilder, she has overseen the design and construction of thousands of multi-family homes in California, built with a variety of funding mechanisms. If you can live in it, she has worked on it. Michelle lives on a hobby farm in the foothills with her husband, children, a menagerie of animals and a happy level of chaos.
