WEBINAR:
Live

Please join us at our next code discussion group in March. In this session, we will discuss CBC 11B-250 Circulation paths.

The 2019 intervening code cycle update, which took effect on July 1, 2021, almost two years ago, has specific references to raised circulation paths that significantly affect site design in California. Conforming with the 11B-250 section is still puzzling; while the specifics included in the code update are limited, the implications are significant. A clear understanding of the circulation path requirements will facilitate meeting the regulation's intent while dealing with building officials.

For the upcoming CASI discussion group, we'll be doing just that - discussing the code! This will NOT be a lecture so come prepared with your code book, ready to research the applicable code sections, and a willingness to engage. In this session, we’re going to be talking about some of the unique design challenges that arise when you apply the CBC 11B-250 Circulation paths to sites and in the ROW.

FORMAT:
You will be divided into a breakout group randomly. Each breakout group will have 25 minutes to discuss a scenario, guided by a CASI facilitator. Then, we will reconvene as a whole and a representative from each breakout group will have up to 5 minutes to present the scenario, any discussions/debates, and the group interpretation.

Scenarios addressing the following aspects of code will be discussed:

  • General applicability of Section 202 Definitions; 11B-247.1 Detectable warnings. 11B-250 Circulation paths; 11B-206 and 11B-402 Accessible routes; 11B-406 Curb Ramps

One (1) continuing education credit is offered for a maximum of one-hour live attendance for DSA CASp certification or CAB credits, to be self-reported.

The Discussion Groups are available FREE to CASI members only. Registration is required.

Webinar information to join the discussion group will be sent out the day prior to the scheduled session date.  The discussion groups will be recorded and archived in the member dashboard for those who cannot attend the live session.
