Biography:

Bassam has a Masters Degree in Architecture from the University of Venice Italy, he is an Architectural Designer, Project Manager and a Certified Access Specialist, Bassam has over 33 years of Architectural experience including 25   years of experience in the United States.     

 

Bassam has developed and presented numerous seminars and workshops on Accessibility, and frequently hired to present Accessibility trainings on behalf of cities like the City of San Francisco and the BAR association of San Francisco, Contra Costa, Santa Clara and the California BAR association. He has given continues education seminars for attorneys and architects.  He is a founding member of the CASI “Certified Access Specialist Institute”

 

Bassam is a code driven, solution oriented person, his knowledge of Architecture design, Accessibility and Project Management can provide the right solution for architecture and accessibility issues, delivering time efficient, cost effective and flexible solutions to accommodate complex issues. Bassam was also instrumental and part of the City Of San Francisco Committee to study and Issue the “ADA Design Guidance for Historical Buildings”

 

Bassam held an advisory role with the California Commission on Disability Access

 

Bassam is a member of the Education & Outreach Committee for the CCDA (California Commission on Disability Access)

 

Bassam is also a founding member of CASI (Certified Access Specialist Institute).

 

Bassam is also a member of the Planning Commission for the City of Clayton (former chairman)

In his position as Vice President of Architecture in Designers Collective inc. later as principal of Cal Accessibility; he has developed a comprehensive survey check list and has completed facility compliance audits and surveys   for over 10 million square feet for various occupancy categories under the Title III and Title II of the ADA, he has designed and project managed the retrofit improvements for various facilities and is an ongoing ADA consultant with different entities. Bassam is the to go expert for the City of San Francisco neighborhood project and office of small business that hired his firm to conduct over 200 ADA audits for small businesses in the City (not part of the partial list of projects) and also is the ADA consultant for SMART the new fast rail in Marin County ,  and the vice chairman of the planning commission of the City of Clayton.
