Dawn Anderson is the principal of As It Stands, a full-service architectural firm specializing in accessible design and construction in the built environment. Ms. Anderson is a licensed California Architect, certified Access Specialist, and Inspector of Record. Dawn holds certifications as an ADA Coordinator and ICC Combination Inspector and Plan Reviewer. As It Stands is a WBE, SBE, and LBE that serves public entities and private clientele throughout California and the United States.
Staff performs accessibility scoping studies, design reviews and inspections of new and existing residential and governmental properties, and, public accommodations including improved outdoor spaces and historic landmarks. Ms. Anderson oversees the preparation of Self-Evaluation and Transition Plans, code interpretations, CASp reports, and other legal documentation as a subject matter expert for accessibility-related casework.
With over 30 years of professional experience, the firm’s insights on construction contracts, codes and regulations, and emerging technologies combine to form an integrated approach for assessment and remediation of complicated environmental conditions.
Dawn participates nationally in the development of the ICC/ANSI A117.1 Accessible and Useable Building and Facilities, and the ASME A17 Elevator Code and is the technical lead for the ASTM Standards for Accessible Property Condition Assessments. She has served on California’s Division of State Architect Advisory Code Subcommittees, GSA Commission on Disabled Access, and several Building Standards Commission Subcommittees.
She speaks regularly on the application of accessibility law and regulations and best business practices to incorporate accessibility and reduce risk.
